  • [Internet setting by service type]
How do I know my internet service type? And how can I set up my internet connection using the OSH installer?

    – Contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider). Your ISP can tell you the service type you are using now.
    – After knowing your internet service type, run the installer. You can see the below menu after finishing Wi-Fi configuration.
    (1) Choose Auto IP address if you are subscribing dynamic IP based service. All things will be done automatically.
    (2) If you are subscribing static IP based service (mostly company network), ask your system manager to get IP/DNS addresses to configure the network.
    (3) If you are subscribing PPPoE (ADSL), enter the ID/password received from your internet service provider.

See the user manual or quick guide to know the detailed steps.
  • [Configuration with existing AP]
I am using a wireless AP already. How can I use a new OSH together with existing wireless AP?
    (1) I want to keep existing AP’s connection, and passively connect the OSH to the AP.
    (2) I want to keep existing AP’s connection, and use the OSH separately without connecting to internet (without connecting the OSH to the existing AP through LAN cable).
    (3) I want to OSH as a main AP connected to internet.

    (1) To prevent conflict, IP address of the existing AP and the OSH should be different. if both have the same address (e.g. 192.168.208.1), please change any one’s IP address by changing the second last locate of the IP address making it something like this : 192.168.10.1 or 192.168.100.1. But in most cases, the OSH does not conflict with existing AP/Routers.
    (2) In this case, OSH creates an isolated network that has no connection with the existing AP. To use the OSH’s own functions, you should connect to the OSH, not to the existing AP.
    (3) You can just connect WAN cable to use internet. If you can’t access internet just by doing this, follow the instruction after running the installer in your bundle CD.
  • [Internet is disconnected after running the installer]
I have a wireless AP already for internet connection. But it doesn’t work after running the installer of the OSH.

After running the OSH installer, your PC recognizes the OSH as the default AP. So it changes the default internet connection from your existing AP to the OSH.
    (1) In this case, internet connection doesn’t work if the OSH is not connected to internet through LAN cable.
    (2) If you want to connect to internet thru the existing AP, you can choose the existing AP again in the AP list of your PC.
  • [Firmware Update]
How can I update the firmware of the OSH?

If you have a firmware version newer than “xx01”, then you can use a “Live Update” using the WEB UI. Just connect to the Web UI by typing http://smarthub in your web browser’s address bar, and go to Maintenance ? Firmware Upgrade.

If you have a firmware version “xx00”, please do the following steps.

    Step 1
    – On your PC’s web browser, visit https://www.tsstodd.com, and find “F/W Download” for the optical Smart Hub.
    – Click to download the firmware for your region. “TWxx” is for EU, UK, Asia, and etc. “AWxx” is for America.

    – Select “USB FW Upgrade” and click “Download” to save the firmware to your PC.
    – In this guide, we will explain firmware upgrade using a USB memory stick. Please select “WEB UI FW Upgrade” and follow the instruction if you don’t have a USB drive available. “Boot Mode FW Upgrade” is only for advanced users.
    Step 2
    – Plug a USB memory stick into the PC’s USB slot. Create a folder named “se208bwfwupdir” (which means se208bw fw update directory) at the root of the USB memory stick.
    – Copy the downloaded firmware file (208bwfw.tar.gz) to the folder created as above. Make sure that you downloaded the file after selecting “USB FW Upgrade” mentioned in the “Step 1”.

    – Now the USB memory stick for firmware upgrade is ready.
    Step 3
    – Plug in USB drive to the USB port of the optical Smart Hub. Then power on the device by plugging in the power supply.
    – USB LED and the power LED blink simultaneously while the firmware is upgrading.

    – The firmware upgrade takes about 5~10 minutes. The optical Smart Hub will reboot automatically when the firmware upgrade is finished.
    – You can plug out the USB drive when the optical Smart Hub finishes rebooting (when the power LED stops blinking and stays on).
    Step 4
    – You can find the reset button from the back of the OSH. Use a pin or a ballpoint pen to push the button for more than 5 seconds. Then you can see the CPU LED and USB LED are blinking. Wait until the OSH restores the factory default settings
  • [Movie (or music) file playback does not work in the new iPad.]
Movie (or music) file playback does not work in the new iPad.

We have already fixed this issue. Please update your Mobile Smart Hub by visiting the app store of your mobile device.
  • [Data burning an optical disc]
I can’t burn my data from USB storage or mobile devices to an optical disc.

To back up the data from a mobile device to a disc in the ODD of the OSH, you should connect an additional USB storage to the external port of the OSH to use it as disc writing buffer. At this time, the free space of the USB storage must be larger than the data which you back up.
  • [Taking time to list media files in USB storage]
When Video/Music Player is running, it takes so much time to list files stored in the media connected to the OSH. Is it a defect?

No. The Mobile Smart Hub uses DLNA to stream media files from the OSH to target devices. DLNA needs time to list files on the player (about 1~2 seconds per file), so it may take much time if you have many files in a storage.

The OSH makes a cache folder named “.access_conf” after finishing its first access to the files in the storage. From the second time, it uses the folder to significantly reduce file indexing time.
  • [DVD Playback in TV]
Why I can’t play a DVD video in my Smart TV?

DLNA (or Allshare™) supporting Smart TV can play multimedia files (video files like AVI, MP4, etc. and audio files like MP3, WAV, etc.). However, it does not support DVD title because DLNA (or Allshare™) does not support DVD Video. But Audio CD is playable since the OSH converts it to WAV files.

If you want to play DVD title, please use the Mobile Smart Hub app you installed in your Smartphone or Tablet. Mobile Smart Hub is the only app in the world that can play your DVD title in your Smartphone or Tablet without using PC.
